The National Portrait Gallery: The Face: Culture Shift Exhibition

Mylands is also a paint partnership of The National Portrait Gallery, giving the gallery free paint to use for their exhibitions. For example, the ‘Six Lives: The Stories of Henry VIII’s Queens’ and ‘Paul McCartney Photographs, 1963-64: Eyes of the Storm’.

In February, the NPG put on an exhibition for The Face Magazine called, ‘The Face Magazine: Cultural Shift’. They used an array of Mylands paints and we were given free tickets to got to go to a private viewing of the exhibition with all of the NPG business partners. Unfortunately, we were not allowed to use this exhibition for a campaign due to Mylands not securing the rights to the pictures. I felt that this was a wasted opportunity but still was exciting to witness and experience in terms of viewing the gallery.

The South Wing – November 2024

The South Wing: Laura Swayer

I also spent the day shooting The South Wing House. Mylands market their paint to influencers so then in return can photograph their house for content, for the website, newsletters, and social media.

This was extremely interesting as it I got meet the owner, the photographer Beth Davis, and work closely with Steffan. It was interesting to see how interior homes are shot; I got to experience proper photography set ups, angles, and how different placements of a house are more photogenic than others. I learnt about the aesthetics of interior design more on this shoot which really deepened my knowledge into how the marketing was run.

Mylands at The Dulwich Picture Gallery – November 2024

I spent the day at the Dulwich Picture Gallery helping the team set up and shot for the exhibition called “Tirzah Garwood: Beyond Ravilious” and for a mini–Christmas Campaign. We started at 8:30 and most of my morning was spent with Priya decorating trees in the freezing cold. Then I helped shoot the trees and the inside of the Museum. This was very eye-opening as I hadn’t ever gone to a location shoot before and I got to see first-hand how it was organised, shot, and how the team worked together to create content. I then helped to curate the blog and newsletter for that campaign.

Tea Rebellion: Pitching, Blogging, and Learning the Hard Way

I have started my internship at Tea Rebellion working as a PR intern.

I met Annabel at Caffee Culture and we discussed what we both wanted from the internship.

My asks included writing PR pitches and blog posts. The role gave me freedom, but also came with its frustrations. Pitch writing was entirely new to me, and with minimal guidance, I relied heavily on online resources to teach myself. I spent hours researching journalists’ contacts, often hitting dead ends. When responses did come, they were either rejections or required paid features, something the Annabel wasn’t willing to pursue.
